What Are the Seven Waterfalls in Juayua?
The Siete Cascadas de Juayua (Seven Waterfalls) is a series of seven cascades connected by a mountain river that flows through the rainforest above the town of Juayua, in the heart of western El Salvador’s famous Ruta de las Flores.
The trail winds through coffee farms, tropical forest, and natural rock formations. At several points you’ll wade directly through the river, scramble over rocks, and help each other up natural ledges — this is real jungle trekking, not a paved walkway.
The hike ends at Los Chorros de la Calera, a breathtaking natural pool fed by a powerful waterfall. This is the perfect place to cool off, take photos, and celebrate making it to the end.
Elevation: The trail sits between 900 and 1,200 meters above sea level — expect cooler, fresher air than at the beach.

Great question! Tamanique Waterfalls is a shorter, half-day tour just 30 minutes from El Tunco with 4 waterfalls. The Juayua 7 Waterfalls is a full-day, more demanding adventure deeper in the mountains with 7 cascades and the famous Chorros de la Calera. Many of our guests do both during the same trip!

Yes. Our guides are experienced local professionals who know the trail inside and out. We provide safety guidance at each waterfall and all swimming areas. Follow your guide’s instructions and you’ll have an amazing, safe experience.
What should I do if it rains?
The trail is open year-round. Light rain actually makes the waterfalls more powerful and the jungle more beautiful. In the event of severe weather that makes the trail unsafe, we will reschedule your tour or offer a full refund.
