👮🏼‍♀️Step 1: Immigration & Entry Requirements

Upon landing at El Salvador International Airport (SAL), also known as Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport, you’ll need to go through immigration before collecting your bags. Here’s what you need to know:

Visa Entry Fee

  • Travelers from most countries, including the U.S., Canada, and the EU, need to pay a $12 tourist visa fee upon arrival. This must be paid in cash (USD).
  • If you are Salvadoran by descent, you can avoid this fee by presenting a DUI (Documento Único de Identidad) or a photo of one of your parent’s Salvadoran passports.

Required Documents

  • A valid passport (make sure it’s valid for at least six months).
  • The address and name of your first-night accommodation.
  • Proof of onward travel may be requested (e.g., return flight ticket).
